Key Requirements

• Licensure: Current Alaska Pharmacist license required
• Health Requirement: Flu vaccination required
• Education: Pharm.D. degree or Bachelor of Pharmacy (with at least 3 years of hospital/ambulatory clinic experience for those licensed before 2003)
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication use, adhering to Federal and State laws.
• Counsel patients and educate medical staff on drug therapy and outcomes.
• Conduct drug utilization reviews and manage prescription refills.
• Review patient charts for therapy appropriateness, interactions, and lab value abnormalities.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and assist with staff education.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and ensure proper formulary drug selection.
• Work independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of an ASHP-recognized pharmacy residency program.
• Experience in clinical and ambulatory care settings.

Knowledge and Skills

• Expertise in pharmaceutical sciences and medication therapy management.
• Proficiency with computer applications and pharmacy software.
• Strong communication skills for patient and staff interactions.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing workloads, and respond quickly to emergencies.
