Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation of occupational therapy interventions for students aged Pre-K to 5th grade under the guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

• Provide direct support to students to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and other areas related to school functioning.

• Collaborate with educators, school staff, and families to ensure the development of individualized therapy plans.

• Conduct assessments and collect data on student progress, modifying interventions as needed.

• Help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students.

• Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and documentation as required by school policy.

Qualifications:

• Certification: Current certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) from the NBCOT.

• Experience: Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting, is preferred.

• Licensing: Must be licensed to practice as a COTA in the state of Virginia.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development, sensory processing, and occupational therapy principles.

• Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with students, staff, and families. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to move, lift, or assist students as needed, including classroom settings and physical activities.

Schedule:

• Hours: 37.5 hours per week

• Start Date: ASAP, with a contract lasting through June 11, 2025.

• Some ESY (Extended School Year) hours will be included.
